Carbonara with Basmati Rice

Simple is sometimes best. This is one of those dishes which is simple to create in a very short space of time.

Carbonara with Basmati Rice

 25 g Butter
 1 Small Red Onion (Sliced)
 1 Clove of Garlic (Chopped)
 50 g Mushrooms
 50 g Sliced Ham
 Seasoning
 0.50 Vegetable Stock Cube
 25 g Plain Flour
 10 fl oz Milk
 150 g Basmati Rice

Boil sufficient water In a saucepan to cook the rice. Add the rice and simmer for 15 minutes.

In a separate saucepan over a moderate heat, add the butter, onion and garlic and allow to sweat for 5 minutes. Then add the mushrooms, ham, seasoning and stock cube and continue cooking for a further 3 minutes. Add the flour until combined and then add the milk slowly, stirring all the time. Simmer for a further 10 minutes.

Drain the rice and serve with the carbonara.
