Peel the potatoes and cut into thin slices.
Peel the onion, cut in half and slice each half thinly.
Preheat oven to 130ºC, Gas mark 2.
Take a medium size ovenproof dish and overlap a layer of potatoes in the bottom of the dish using just half of the potatoes.
Now sprinkle all the sliced onion over the top.
Sprinkle the salt and pepper over the onion.
Now repeat step 3 using the remainder of the potatoes.
Finally pour over the milk and evenly spread the grated cheese over the top
Cook in the oven for 60 minutes. Serve Immediately.
